Reading: The first "R"

I buy books much faster than I can read them, but I'm making an effort to always be reading something. I spend most of my leisure reading time with non-fiction books. For starters, I'm a history buff. Secondly, I'm an engineer, so I like to always be learning new things. And last, I believe that life itself is so interesting, that authors of fiction simply draw upon the real world to fashion their own story line, so why not read about the inspiration instead. This isn't to say that I never read fiction. Actually, I can probably thank Tom Clancy for turning me into a teenager that actually read books outside of the class assignments to begin with, and one of my favorite books of all times is Charles Dickens' A Tale of Two Cities.

In addition to "normal" books, I also acquire a lot of books that I use for reference in my hobby of building plastic scale models. This also links back to my interest in history, particulary military history. So, even though I seldom actually read these books cover to cover, I will likely include some of them in my reviews as well, especially the ones I find particularly useful.

Professional Texts
This page only covers books I have read in my free time for my personal enjoyment. For my thoughts on books regarding software development, please see my Professional page.

Here are brief reviews of books I have read in reverese chronological order (that means the books I read the most recently are at the top, for those of you who are multisyllablicly-challenged) that use my unique "Wienerating" system.
